OTTAWA – POLITICS – I was in Sault Ste. Marie to attend the Northern Ontario Tourism Summit, hosted by Nature and Outdoor Tourism Ontario and Destination Northern Ontario. As this vital industry recovers from lost seasons, a common-sense Conservative government will continue to support our outfitters.
We will ensure faster work permits to fill labour needs, cut taxes, and reduce red tape that is holding back tourism in the north.
It was great to meet with Chief Karen Bell from Garden River First Nation. I appreciated the discussion on ways we can work together between all levels of government.
I also met with Chief Mark McCoy and council members of Batchewana First Nation about local business opportunities and empowering First Nations self-determination.
