Officers Forced to Deploy Conducted Energy Weapon for Public Safety

SIOUX LOOKOUT – NEWS – On November 4, 2023, Sioux Lookout OPP responded to reports of a male yelling and brandishing an edged weapon on Millar Crescent. The situation escalated when an officer was assaulted, prompting the deployment of a conducted energy weapon to apprehend the individual, Ziggy Winter, 36.

Winter faces multiple charges including Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Resist Peace Officer, Carrying Concealed Weapon, and Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon. These charges could entail serious penalties upon conviction, reflecting the severity of the offenses. Winter remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora.
