Youth Apprehended in Connection with Crime Spree in Fort Frances: OPP Investigation Ongoing

Fort Frances, ON – A series of criminal activities on the evening of October 28, 2023, led to a swift response by the Fort Frances Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), resulting in one youth taken into custody while two other suspects have been identified.

Sequence of Events: The police were initially alerted to a break-and-enter incident in the northeast sector of the town. Shortly thereafter, two more break-and-enters, along with a vehicle theft, were reported. The OPP believes that these criminal activities were orchestrated by the same group of youths.

Police Response: In a bid to gather evidence and halt further illegal activities, the OPP augmented its presence in the affected area, deploying Scenes of Crime Officers among other resources.

Their efforts bore fruit as a 13-year-old individual, found in possession of some stolen property, was apprehended.

Two more youths, believed to be involved in the crime spree, have been identified as the investigation unfolds.

Withheld Identities and Pending Charges: Adhering to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identities of all youths involved are being kept confidential. It is anticipated that several charges will be levied upon the conclusion of the investigation.
