A New Format for IX WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup

This year’s Women’s Baseball World Cup introduces an exciting two-stage format. The initial stage featured 12 teams divided into two groups.

Thunder Bay, Canada, proudly hosted Group A in August, while Group B took center stage in Miyoshi City, Japan, just this past week.

The Field is Set for the Finals

Following the intense Group Stage competition, the roster for the Finals is now confirmed. Advancing from Group A are world No. 3 USA, No. 4 Canada, and No. 12 Mexico. Group B’s triumphant trio includes No. 1 Japan, No. 2 Chinese Taipei, and No. 5 Venezuela.

The Road to Glory

In the Finals, these six elite teams will engage in a thrilling single round-robin battle from 28 July to 1 August. The stakes couldn’t be higher, as the top two teams in the standings will vie for the prestigious title of World Champions on 3 August.

Meanwhile, the third and fourth-place finishers will square off for the coveted bronze medal. And just in case rain tries to dampen the excitement, August 2 has been kept as a reserve day. Stay tuned for the official game schedule, which will be revealed at a later stage.

Japan, the reigning champions, have claimed victory in the last six editions of the Women’s Baseball World Cup, establishing their reign as baseball queens.
