THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Welcome to Friday, if you are in Thunder Bay this evening, make sure to head down to Marina Park to see the Viking Octantis as it docks at a scheduled arrival of 6:00 PM.

There remain heat warnings in effect for Fort Frances and Atikokan areas.

Thunder Bay

It is 11 in Thunder Bay at 6:00 am EDT. Winds are from the Northwest at 5 km/h and the humidity is 92 per cent.

The forecast is for mainly cloudy skies with a daytime high of 24. The humidex will make that feel like 29. Winds will be from the east at 20 km/h by late this afternoon.

The UV Index will be 8 or Very High.

This evening, there will be a 40 per cent chance of showers overnight with the risk of a thunderstorm. Winds will remain from the east at 20 km/h becoming light near midnight. Low overnight of 11.

Fort Frances

The heat warning remains in effect.

It is 16 this morning at 05:00 am CDT. The winds are from the south-southwest at 6 km/h. The humidity is 98 per cent.

The forecast is for a mix of sun and cloud with a 40 per cent potential of showers. There will be a risk of a thunderstorm.

Winds will becoming south 20 km/h gusting to 40 this afternoon.

Tonight will see rain showers with thunderstorms. Local rainfall amounts of 20 to 30 mm are forecast. Winds will becoming east 20 km/h gusting to 40 this evening then becoming south 20 after midnight. Low overnight of 17.

Dryden and Vermilion Bay

It is 16 this morning at the Dryden Airport. Winds are East-Northeast at 18 km/h. The humidity is at 88 per cent.

We are calling for a mix of sun and cloud with a 40 per cent potential of rain showers. There will also be a risk of a thunderstorm.

Winds will becoming southeast 20 km/h gusting to 40 this morning then northeast 30 late this afternoon.

Tonight will see rain showers with thunderstorms. Local amounts of 20 to 30 mm are forecast. Winds will becoming east 20 km/h gusting to 50 late this evening and then becoming south 20 gusting to 40 after midnight. Low overnight of 16.

Sandy Lake
