THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – The couple of very hot, and for parts of the region record breaking heat set new high temperature records.

There are no weather alerts or warnings in effect this morning across the region. Temperatures will for most of the region remain high for the rest of the week.

Thunder Bay

It has been a week of record breaking heat in Thunder Bay. On Monday under the Heat Warning, it took until the evening and a shift in the wind which had been coming off Lake Superior for the temperature to climb. Environment Canada reported that the mercury in the thermometer reached 34.1 C as recorded at Thunder Bay Airport near to 8:00 PM.

For Wednesday, the temperature is 16 heading to a high of 25.

This morning the humidity is at 73 per cent with winds from the west at 24 gusting to 35 km/h.

Skies are clearing this morning.

The UV Index is 8 or Very High.

Skies will remain clear this evening, with winds continuing from the west at 20 km/h before becoming light this evening. The overnight low will be 11.

Fort Frances

It is a cooling 8 in Fort Frances this morning. Winds are calm. The humidity is at 97 per cent.

The daytime high today under mainly clear skies will be 25.

The UV Index will be 7 or High.

Tonight skies will be partly cloudy along with a 30 per cent potential for precipitation. Winds will be from the west at 20 km/h before becoming light later this evening. The overnight low will be 14.

Dryden and Vermilion Bay

It is a cooling 9 in Dryden as recorded at the airport. Winds are from the west at 13 km/h. The humidity is 98 per cent.

Wednesday will see mainly clear skies. Winds will pick up coming from the west at 20 km/h gusting up to 40. The high for the day will be 23.

The UV Index will be 7 or High.

Tonight will start with clear skies. Clouds will come into the picture along with a 30 per cent potential for rain showers. The winds will slowly drop over the course of the evening. The overnight low will be 14.

Fort Severn / Wasaho Cree Nation

It is +6 in Wasaho this morning. Winds are from the west-northwest at 18 gusting to 33 km/h. The humidity is 92 per cent.

Cloudy skies with west winds at 20 km/h gusting to 60 will be increasing to 40 gusting to 60 early this afternoon. High for Wednesday will be 15.

UV index 4 or moderate.
