THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Police have arrested a suspect in connection with an ongoing investigation into a serious assault.
The Thunder Bay Police Service’s Primary Response Unit were originally dispatched to a residential address in the 200 block of May Street North at about 7:45 pm on Tuesday, May 31 following reports of an assault that had recently taken place.
Paramedics from the Superior North EMS were also dispatched to the scene and were attending to an adult male victim when officers arrived. Evidence at the scene indicated that a serious assault had taken place.
Paramedics transported the victim to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further evaluation and treatment of his injuries. The exact extent of the injuries remains unknown at this time but are considered serious.
Members of the TBPS’s Major Crimes and Forensic Identification Units are now involved in the continued investigation.
On Thursday, June 2, Major Crimes Unit investigators identified a suspect. The 22-year-old Toronto man is now in police custody and faces a charge of Aggravated Assault. He is expected to appear in bail court on Friday, June 3. His identity will be released after the charges against him are sworn before the courts.
