Charges Laid Following Security Guard Assault

Accused Assaulted Two Police Officers

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Donald Street near City Hall just before 8:30 pm on Sunday, May 29th following reports that a security guard had been assaulted.

When police arrived they located a witness and learned that the accused was still in the area. The accused was located by a nearby bus shelter.

During the arrest the accused male attacked two of the officers. The arrest was completed following a continued struggle.

Police learned the accused, prior to officers being dispatched, had been approaching people in the area and assaulting them. When a security guard approached the accused, he also became the target of an assault.

The accused was transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.

Nathaniel OSKINEEGISH, 27, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:

• Assault x 2
• Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest x 2
• Failure to Comply with Release Order

He appeared in bail court on Monday, May 30 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
