THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Police have charged a Winnipeg man with drug-trafficking related offences following an investigation into a suspected home takeover on Wednesday, May 25th.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Community Oriented Response and Engagement (CORE) Unit attended a residential address in the 700 block of John Street Road just after 1:30 pm on Wednesday.
The officers’ attendance was in relation to a welfare check based on information about a suspected ongoing home takeover situation.
When police arrived at the home, they observed a male suspect attempting to flee the scene.
Further investigation revealed the suspect was involved in drug trafficking activity. He was subsequently located and arrested without further incident.
The accused was transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.
Police located and seized a quantity of cocaine, a quantity of suspected crack cocaine, and a quantity of cash.
Nejib Abulrished HASSAN, 22, of Winnipeg, is charged with:
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
• Breach of Probation
He appeared in bail court on Thursday, May 26 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
