Police Investigating Death of Wabigoon Lake Man

DRYDEN – NEWS – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North West Region and Treaty Three Police are investigating the death of a Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation resident.

Officers with the Treaty Three Police Service responded to a break and enter with violence at a residence in the Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation on May 13, 2022. The resident had suffered serious injuries and was transported to the Dryden Hospital where he later died. The individual has been identified as Gregory GEORGE, age 56.

While foul play has not be ruled out, police do not believe there is a threat to public safety at this time. A post-mortem examination will be conducted May 25, 2022 by the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto to determine the cause of death.

Members of the North West Region OPP and Treaty Three Police Service are continuing to investigate, under direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.
