Thunder Bay Police on Scene Water Rescue McVicars Creek

THUNDER BAY – News – On Thursday, Thunder Bay First Responders, including Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, Superior EMS paramedics, and Thunder Bay Police officers responded to a reported incident of an infant in a stroller in McVicars Creek between Algoma and Court Streets.

Sadly this morning NetNewsLedger reports that the infant in the stroller has died.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue firefighters were able to rescue the infant from the very fast flowing creek.

However despite all the efforts of all of the first responders and medical staff at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, we can confirm that the infant did not survive.

Thunder Bay Police state, “The investigation into an incident that led to a water rescue at McVicar Creek on Thursday is ongoing, however, the matter is now considered private and no further media updates are expected. ”

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the infant, and their friends in this time of grief.
