THUNDER BAY – NEWS – On May 12,2022 at about 12:45 pm Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, and Thunder Bay Police with Superior North EMS responded to a water rescue call at McVicar Creek at the corner of Court Street and McVicar Street under the bridge.

Reports were of a stroller with child in the river. Fire Crews found the stroller and immediately entered the water and located the victim. Due to the high volume of water flow, extrication required use of a rope system.

Firefighters were able to overcome the turbulent water and retrieve the infant still strapped into the stroller. The victim was removed from the water and given to awaiting EMS crew. Fire and EMS provided emergency medical care and patient was transferred to TBRHSC.

At this time the condition of the patient is unknown.
