THUNDER BAY – First responders were dispatched to McVicar Creek on Algoma Street North just after 12:45 pm this afternoon following reports of someone possibly trapped in the waterway.

Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service, firefighters with Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, and paramedics with Superior North EMS were all dispatched to the scene.

While en route, first responders learned a victim in the waterway may have been a child.

An adult woman and child have been transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further treatment.

Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Police have blocked off the area from the bridge under Algoma down to south of Court Street, the pathway along the creek is not open to the public at this time (2:20 PM EDT)
