Rainfall Warning Issued for Thunder Bay and Superior West

THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for the City of Thunder Bay and Superior West.

Rain at times heavy with 25-50 mm forecast to start this evening and continue to Friday morning. Higher rainfall amounts are possible in thunderstorms.

The precipitation will come in two rounds. First will be this evening, Wednesday night and will taper off on Thursday morning. The second round will start Thursday night and end Friday morning.

Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay
  • Superior West – Kakabeka Falls

Warnings are also in effect for Kenora, Grassy Narrows, Fort Frances, Dryden – Vermilion Bay, Ignace, English River, Atikokan, Shebandowan, Quetico Park, Raith and Upsala.

With the ground in many cases already saturated, there is little ability for it to absorb more moisture so localized flooding is possible.
