THUNDER BAY – ROADS UPDATE – The City of Thunder Bay wants to remind motorists, pedestrians and residents of the continued closure of River Street north of Algoma Street.

A fairly large sinkhole has opened on the inside lane of the eastbound lane of River Street.

The COTB advises that River Street will be closed between Algoma Street North and College Street due to emergency road maintenance.

The section of River Street between Peter Street and Farrand Street is completely closed with no flow-thru traffic. Local traffic can access residences between both College Street and Peter Street, or Algoma Street North and Farrand Street, but are asked to exercise caution.

The public is also advised not to use the sidewalks along River Street in this area as well.

The duration of the road closure is undetermined at this time.

Motorists are asked to plan an alternative route, to drive with caution, and obey all signage in the area of the road closure.
