THUNDER BAY – NEWS – A Thunder Bay man was arrested Wednesday amid an ongoing investigation into the possession of child pornography.
The Thunder Bay Police Service’s Cyber Crimes Unit began an investigation in January of 2022 after learning a local Internet user was suspected of uploading material linked to child exploitation.
As a result of their ongoing investigation, the material in question was reviewed and investigators found the files were consistent with child pornography.
Further investigation led to a suspect residing in the Martha Street area of Thunder Bay being identified. Police located and arrested the accused without incident at the Thunder Bay International Airport in the afternoon hours of Wednesday, May 4.
Shayne EBERHARDT, 28, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Possession of Child Pornography.
He appeared in bail court on Thursday, May 5 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
The investigation is on-going. All accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
