Owner and founder of Sassy Woof, Christine Chang, shares the inspiration behind the brand and what it stands for.
Concept: A dog care company that focuses on providing the best dog hardware. “We focus on dog hardware, including but not limited to dog harnesses, leashes, ropes, collars, and waste bag holders. We also try to bring cute and chic seasonal products like wine tumblers, candles, and other dog-related items.”
Genesis: Sassy Woof was founded out of frustration and disappointment with existing dog products. “We found there was a lack of affordable, modern, and comfortable accessories for pups on the market.”
Target Demographic: Sassy Woof creates products for dog parents. People have found many ways to bond with their dogs and include them in activities around their families. Dog care is critical, and Sassy Woof makes it possible for pet owners to access unique dog hardware and other seasonal chic pet products.
Why now? “Our influencer pup @mayathedox (243k+) was the main reason for us.” Christine Chang also adds that the company started as a hobby in the basement but quickly grew into a business to help people access high-quality dog hardware that wasn’t available in the market. “Every harness purchased through our website feeds a shelter dog at Feeding Pets of the Homeless.”
OMG Moment: Besides providing unique and quality comfort products for pups, Sassy Woof also gives to dog shelters. “We have donated thousands of products over the past three years to local and nationwide shelters, such as The Sato Project, Friends of Homeless Animals, Fairfax County Animal Shelter, and the Homeless Animals Rescue Team.”
Reach: “Our products can be found in over 600 boutiques worldwide and 1,300+ PetSmart stores in the U.S. and Canada.”
Competitive advantage: “We have patents for our core harness offerings (adjustable and reversible) and are working on a new design of harness that is different than any other harness in the market.” Chang also mentions that new products launch on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
