KENORA – Shawn MCLEOD of Fort Frances Faces Serious Assault Charges

KENORA – NEWS – On Sept 25, 2021 at 3:50 pm the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was advised of an assault that occurred on Main Street in the downtown area.

An individual has been charged after a serious assault in KENORA over the weekend. Police and Emergency Medical Services attended the scene and located a 66 year old individual with serious injuries. The victim was transported to hospital where the injuries were upgraded to life threatening and the victim was flown to Winnipeg for additional treatment.

OPP officers later located and arrested an individual at the Lake of the Woods Hospital.

43 year old Shawn MCLEOD of Fort Frances has been charged with the following offence under the Criminal Code:

–  Aggravated Assault contrary to section 268

The accused was remanded into custody after a bail hearing on Sept 26, 2021.

The investigation by Kenora Detachment members and Forensic Identification Services (FIS), is continuing under the direction of the North West Region Crime Unit.
