The Italian painter, Chiara Magni, is known for her artistic work in her paintings. Through this article, this contemporary painter shares her views on women empowerment, and how she is focusing on this subject through her own art.
According to Chiara, women and the female figure, in general, are a very important part of society and in our daily life. For this reason, many of her paintings are dedicated to these wonderful creatures, to all the women.
She further quotes, “I think anyone will agree with me that the beauty and the very high aesthetic level that a woman has is something unique. This in my opinion has nothing to do with gender or sexual orientation. As a woman, I feel it is my duty and the pleasure of being an inspiration for each of us. Sometimes it is not easy to be a woman. In 2021, there are still incredibly strong discrimination and differences being made, especially in the workplace. This unfortunately is also evident in the art world, and I think it’s time to stop it.”
If you don’t think that’s the case, Chiara Magni asks you to take a test. Which of the two do you know: Artemisia Gentileschi or Caravaggio?
As per the artist, the prominent answer is Caravaggio. Chiara shares more on the same thought – both are undisputed masters, both lived in the same historical period, both belong to the Baroque style and both are exhibited at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. Yet between the two, certainly most of the people have only heard of Caravaggio.
Will it be a coincidence?
We don’t know and she also doesn’t want to make a controversy about it. However, she carries on her mission and works hard to support women and spread the message of women empowerment.
