Skin resurfacing treatments remove the outer layers of your skin that have been damaged by environmental factors, aging and injury to reveal the new, undamaged skin underneath. There are many skin resurfacing treatments available.

Dr. Simon Ourian invented Coolaser, a laser skin resurfacing treatment that, unlike other treatments, doesn’t require a long recovery period. It can effectively treat a variety of skin issues:

  • Acne and acne scars
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Melasma
  • Warts and other skin growths
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Sunspots
  • Stretch Marks

How Coolaser Works

First, a numbing cream will be applied to your skin and you’ll put on protective goggles. Then the area being treated is cooled using a special device and very cold air, and then a rapidly pulsing laser is flashed on the area. The laser immediately vaporizes the cells on the first layer of skin, and you’re left with fresh skin underneath that doesn’t show the effects of environmental damage and has a reduced appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of aging.

After the procedure, a moisturizing cream hydrates and soothes the new skin, which helps to prepare it for exposure. The laser penetrates at a depth of only one ten-millionth of an inch at a time, which allows for full control of the treatment area and ensures that you’re only treating what’s necessary to prevent scarring and achieve great results.

What To Expect During Recovery

Since a numbing cream is used during the procedure, you may only feel a little pain. The whole procedure may only take up to 15 minutes with a relatively quick recovery time.

Your skin may have some mild swelling, redness and discomfort. An ice pack and antibiotic ointment will ease discomfort and help the healing process. Over the coming days, you’ll slowly return to feeling normal.

One to five days: You can go back to work.

One week: You can do more strenuous activities.

One to three weeks: The redness fades

Two weeks: You can expose yourself to some light sun but avoid direct sun exposure.

Your New, Beautiful Skin

After your skin heals, you may notice significant changes in the way it looks and feels. Wrinkles may appear reduced, acne, warts and other growths may be eliminated and your skin tone and texture may appear more even and smooth.

You’ll continue to see improvements over four to six weeks. It’s important to wear sunscreen with SPF every day to prevent future sun damage and protect your new, glowing skin.
