How do you save buildings from a wild fire?

Thunder Bay – As communities in the far north brace for the problems created by wild fires, there are essential workers and firefighters who have remained behind.

One of the goals is saving buildings and community infrastructure.

The Ontario Government has in its firefighting arsenal a number of tools.

Some are as simple as running a sprinkler to keep an area wet.

The process works.

In some northern communities, including Deer Lake First Nation this approach is already being deployed.

There are tremendous resources going into making a difference in the North in fighting these fires.
