Four Face Charges in Atikokan Drug Raid – $46k in Drugs Seized

ATIKOKAN – News – On Tuesday January 26, 2021 members of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Northwest Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), Northwest Region Canine, and the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) warrant at a Mercury Avenue residence is Atikokan.

The officers seized Crystal Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, Crack Cocaine, and Cocaine with an approximate street value of $46,000.00.

Officers also seized $5000.00 in cash.

Elijah WAITHE (20) of Oshawa is charged with

  • Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of Cocaine for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of Fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking; and
  • Possession of property obtained by crime.

Kayla DOHERTY (27) of Thunder Bay is charged with

  • Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of Cocaine for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of Fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking; and
  • Possession of property obtained by crime.

Both parties have been held in custody for bail hearings.

Joshua Veran (32) of Atikokan is charged with:

  • Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of Cocaine for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of Fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking; and
  • Possession of property obtained by crime.

Meagan Charles (32) of Atikokan is charged with:

  • Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of Cocaine for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of Fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking; and
  • Possession of property obtained by crime.

Both parties have been released and will attend Atikokan Provincial Court on February 24, 2021 to answer to these charges.
