Thunder Bay – COVID-19 Update – Get ready for another two weeks of staying at home.

Ontario Premier Ford has announced that the State of Emergency will remain in effect until February 11, 2021.

This officially extends the Ontario’s state of emergency and of the related orders associated with the COVID-19 lockdown.

The state of emergency was declared under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA) on January 12, 2021. That order now is set to expire on February 9, 2021.

Ontario first declared a state of emergency after a surge in COVID-19 cases in the new year threatened to overwhelm the province’s healthcare system. If the order wasn’t extended, the state of emergency would have expired on Tuesday, January 26 at 12:01 am EST.
