Weather - Winter Update

Thunder Bay – WEATHER – There are no weather alerts or warnings across Western and Northern Ontario this morning.

Thunder Bay Weather

It is currently -1°C at 7:00 am EST in Thunder Bay. Skies are cloudy with 60 percent chance of flurries or drizzle. Roads and sidewalks are wet, and there is possibility of icy and slippery sections, walk or drive with awareness. Winds are northeast 20 km/h becoming light near noon.

The high for Friday will be +2°C. Tonight it is forecast to remain cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of snow flurries. Winds will be picking up blowing northeast 20 km/h gusting to 40. The overnight low will be -5°C with the wind chill making it feel like -11°C overnight.

Washaho Cree Nation / Fort Severn Weather

Ontario’s cold spot as of 7:00 am EST is -8.2 °C recorded at the Fort Severn Airport. The forecast is calling for periods of snow to end by this afternoon followed by cloudy conditions with a 40 percent chance of flurries. There is a risk of freezing drizzle early this morning.

Local blowing snow is possible with winds blowing from the north at 30 km/h gusting to 50 this morning. Snowfall amounts of between 2 to 4 centimetres are possible. The temperature will fall to -12°C this morning. The wind chill will drop to -26°C this afternoon.

Tonight, skies will be cloudy with a 30 percent chance of snow flurries. Winds will be from the north at 20 km/h becoming light this evening. The overnight low will be -20°C with the wind chill near -27°C.

Greenstone / Geraldton Weather Outlook

It is -4°C this morning under mainly cloudy skies. There is a 30 percent chance of snow flurries in the afternoon with a risk of freezing drizzle.

Winds will be up to 15 km/h. Friday’s high will be -1°C with the wind chill at -14°C in the morning and -3°C in the afternoon.

For Friday night it will be mainly cloudy with a 70 percent chance of flurries. There is also a risk of freezing drizzle early in the evening. Winds will become northeast 20 km/h late in the evening. Overnight, the low will be -11°C. The wind chill will make it feel like -5°C in the evening and -17°C overnight.

Kenora and Lake of the Woods

At 6:00 am CST it is -1°C in Kenora under cloudy skies. There is a 60 percent chance of flurries today. Winds becoming north 20 km/h gusting to 40 near noon. The high will be near the freezing mark. The wind chill near -8°C.

There will be a 60 percent chance of snow flurries early in the evening. Winds will calm overnight blowing from the north at 20 km/h before becoming light near midnight. The low overnight will be -10°C. Wind chill -8°C in the evening and -15°C overnight.
