Two Men Face Charges for Possession of Fentanyl and Trafficking Charges

Thunder Bay – NEWS – The Thunder Bay Police Service’s Intelligence Unit, along with members of the OPP’s Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, executed a search warrant at a residential address in the 400 block of Christina Street East in the evening hours of Thursday, January 7, 2020.

The search warrant was the result of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking activity.

During the execution of the warrant, a male suspect inside the home attempted to evade police and became combative during his arrest. Officers were able to complete their arrest after a brief struggle.

A second male suspect was located and arrested without further incident.

As a result of their search, police located a quantity of Fentanyl, approximately $40,000 CAD, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

Isaac OPPONG, 23, of Brampton, Ont., is charged with:
• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
• Resist Peace Officer

Daniel John Senior CUNNINGHAM, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:
• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,0000

Both appeared in bail court on Friday, Jan. 8 and were remanded into custody with future appearance dates. The information contained in the charges are merely allegations. The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
