Thunder Bay – LIVING – In what is hopefully a look forward to more normal times, Viking Cruises has announced that the expedition cruise ship, Viking Ocantis, will sail into Lake Superior sometime in 2022.
The 378-guest ship was “floated out” late last year, highlighting the first time the ship meets water.
Ports on the ships agenda are, Thunder Bay, Canada, Duluth MN, the Apostle Islands, WI, Houghton, MI, Mackinac Island, MI, and Milwaukee, WI.
Then, the Viking Ocantis will sail to Antarctica.
“Viking is a global industry leader in expedition cruising and investing in these ships demonstrates their commitment to Great Lakes Cruising,” says Anna Tanski, President of Visit Duluth. “Duluth provides an ideal port of call, rich with history, cultural experiences and outdoor exploration. We’ve been working with Viking for more than a year to develop enticing and unique itineraries for shore excursions their passengers won’t find anywhere else.”
