TBDHU – Stay at Home

Thunder Bay – COVID-19 – The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) reports that the region will remain in a temporary shutdown, until January 23, 2021, as part of the Government of Ontario Province Wide Shutdown.

“The extension of the shutdown in our area means TBDHU will continue to experience time- limited public health and workplace safety measures to control the spread of COVID-19. Individuals are being asked to stay home as much as possible, unless it is for essential reasons. The impacts of these measures will be evaluated after 14 days to determine next steps,” reports the health unit in a media release.

Providing some clarity on the issue of schools reopening, the TBDHU says, “Schools will reopen for in person learning as of January 11, 2021 for both elementary and secondary students in the TBDHU area. Schools have implemented significant measures to reduce the risk of spread of the COVID-19 virus within the school setting”.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit encourages all residents to follow all public health measures to protect the health of individuals and our health system.

These Measure include:

  • Stay home as much as possible;
  • Get together only with the people in your household; individuals who live alone may consider joining one other household. Don’t visit in-person with others and don’t have visitors over to your home;
  • Limit trips outside the home to essential reasons (work, grocery/pharmacy shopping, medical appointments). It is also ok to go outside to get some exercise such going for a walk, maintaining physical distancing from anyone not a part of your immediate household;
  • Work from home if possible;
  • Mark special occasions by meeting online.
