54-Year-Old Thunder Bay Man Faces Child Pornography Charges

Thunder Bay – NEWS – Thunder Bay Police have arrested a Scott William GIERTUGA on Tuesday following an investigation into the possession and distribution of child pornography.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Cyber Crime Unit began an investigation in September, 2020 after receiving information about suspected child pornography files being shared by a local Internet user.

Further investigation identified a local suspect.

Members of the Cyber Crime Unit, with assistance from the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Community Oriented Response (COR) Unit, executed a search warrant at a residential address in the 500 block of Leslie Avenue just before 7:45 am on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.

As a result of their search efforts, police seized electronic devices and arrested a male. He was transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.

Scott William GIERTUGA, 54, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:

• Possession of Child Pornography
• Accessing Child Pornography
• Distribution of Child Pornography

He appeared in bail court on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 and was released with conditions and a future appearance date of February, 17.

The investigation remains ongoing.
