Weather - Winter Update

Thunder Bay – WEATHER – Our weather this morning is one of contrasts. The cold spot in Ontario this morning at -12.9 °C or 8.8 °F is Thunder Bay. To the west of the city there are freezing rain warnings in effect for Fort Frances, Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Ignace; Full information HERE.

The hot spot in Ontario is just to the east of Thunder Bay – 2.2 °C or 36.0 °F in Pukaskwa National Park on the north shore of Lake Superior.

The Freezing Rain Warning is part of a rapidly moving system. Earlier this morning there were warnings in effect for the Kenora and Lake of the Woods region.

Thunder Bay Weather

The temperature will climb today in the city to a high of +1°C. There will be a mix of sun and cloud. Fog patches will dissipate this morning. Skies will become cloudy this morning, with periods of snow beginning this afternoon. There is a risk of freezing drizzle late this afternoon. Winds will be up to 15 km/h. The wind chill is -16°C this morning.

Tonight, periods of snow will end late this evening then there will be cloudy skies with a 30 percent chance of flurries. There is a risk of freezing drizzle this evening. Snowfall amounts of 2 centimetres are expected. Winds will be up to 15 km/h. The low overnight will be -4°C with a wind chill at -7°C overnight.

Marten Falls Weather

It is -1°C in Marten Falls this morning. Under mainly cloudy skies there is a 40 percent chance of flurries late this morning and early this afternoon. The weather service says a few flurries will start this afternoon. There is with the temperature near the freezing mark a risk of freezing drizzle late this morning and this afternoon. Fog patches will end this morning. Winds will become west 30 km/h late this morning.

The high today will be +2°C with the wind chill at -7°C this morning.

Tonight, expect more snow flurries with a continued risk of freezing drizzle this evening. Winds will be west 30 km/h becoming light late this evening. The overnight low will be -14°C. The wind chill will make it feel more like -20°C overnight.

Fort Frances Weather

It will be an above seasonal conditions day in Fort Frances. There is, this morning, a FREEZING RAIN WARNING in effect. Expect periods of freezing rain or snow to end this morning then there will be a 60 percent chance of flurries. Winds west 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming light late this afternoon.

Today the temperature will remain at the freezing mark. The wind chill will make it feel like -9°C this morning.

Tonight, there is a 40 percent chance of snow flurries this evening. The overnight low -5°C.
