LONDON – COVID-19 Update – There were more than 50,000 positive COVID-19 cases recorded in the United Kingdom. This is the 4th day in a row for the virus cases to be over 50,000 cases reported.
The increase comes as the new variant of COVID-19 spreads across England. The seven day average is over 47,000 cases of the virus.
UK officials reported 53,285 people had tested positive in the 24 hours ending on January 1, 2021.
The high number of cases in London is putting our NHS staff under immense pressure. Help them by sticking to the rules and staying safe. Remember, if you feel ill and it's not an emergency, call your GP for advice first. If it’s urgent but not an emergency, call 111.
