Weather Advisory Continues for North of Lake Superior

NIPIGON – WEATHER – Environment Canada has continued the weather advisory for Marathon, Schreiber, Rossport and Nipigon. The weather service states that lake effect snow is occurring off of Lake Superior.

Snowfall rates may reach up to 3 centimeters per hour at times. Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 centimeters are forecast by this evening.

UPDATE: Due to weather the following buses are cancelled. Schools remain open. Nipigon, Red Rock, Dorion, Lake Helen Cancelled, includes in town buses. Pays Plat, Rossport, Whitesand Bus is cancelled. Schreiber-Terrace Bay is cancelled & Schreiber, Terrace Bay, Marathon in town buses.

  • Nipigon – Rossport

Winter Weather Travel Advisory in effect through this afternoon.

The heaviest snow will occur between Wawa and Nipigon, so expect poor travel conditions along this stretch of Highway 17.
