Three Additional Deaths at Roseview Care Facility from COVID-19

Thunder Bay – COVID-19 Update – Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) is reporting 4 (four) new COVID-19 cases in residents in the TBDHU Region.

The cases are tied to the Southbridge Roseview long-term care facility in Thunder Bay. There are now 116 active cases in the district. One person is in hospital, and one person in intensive care.

This is a part of the testing which was completed on Friday, December 11, 2020.

Southbridge Roseview reports this morning, “Southbridge Roseview is in a confirmed COVID-19 outbreak with 17 active resident cases and 19 active staff cases. These staff members are currently isolating and recovering at home. It is with deep sadness that we share that 11 residents have passed as a result of this virus.”

Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) also report they have been advised that a recent positive test on a TBDHU resident who resides in a district community was incorrect due to an issue at the lab that analyzed the test. This individual is no longer considered a case and will be removed from the case count provincially and from our reporting on the TBDHU website.

There have been 13 deaths from COVID-19 in the district.

Update: Our earlier version of this piece listed two additional deaths. That has been updated.
