Sioux Lookout OPP Update on Fatal Apartment Fire on First Street

Sioux Lookout – NEWS – Sioux Lookout OPP have provided an update on a fatal fire at an apartment on First Avenue in the community.

OPP say that at approximately 6:00 am on November 19, 2020, the Sioux Lookout detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Sioux Lookout Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a house fire at an apartment on First Avenue, in the Municipality of Sioux Lookout. Two individuals were extracted from the building and neighboring units were safely evacuated. A third individual was located by firefighters, deceased.

The Sioux Lookout OPP are continuing to investigate the cause of this fire under the direction of the Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) with the assistance of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Fire Marshall (OFM). The deceased has been identified as 37 year old Clara Ash of Sioux Lookout. The cause of death has been determined as smoke inhalation.
