KENORA – POLITICS – Update from Kenora MP Eric Melillo:
Dear Constituents,
It’s been a great week in the riding, touring local businesses and meeting with constituents and stakeholders.
On Monday, I had a chance to tour the Evolution Mine in Red Lake. I believe that our rich natural resources are the key to unlocking development and opportunity in the North, and I appreciated the opportunity to learn more the sector.
On Tuesday, I met with the Kenora Chamber of Commerce, the Lake of the Woods Business Incentive Corporation, and local entrepreneurs to hear about issues affecting small business.
I also enjoyed meeting with the Dryden Legion Branch 63 on Wednesday to hear about the valuable role they play in our communities. The next morning, I had an educational visit to Cloverbelt Country Meats.
Thursday night, I participated in an evening meeting of the Indigenous and Northern Affairs Committee, discussing food security and the impact of COVID-19 on Indigenous communities.
I spent part of Friday afternoon collecting donations of the Salvation Army as part of their annual kettle campaign. Our most vulnerable are unfortunately at increased risk this year, at a time when charitable organizations have struggled to raise funds. This holiday season, I’m urging everyone to help out our local charities any way they can.
Canada's Conservatives are here to stand up for the North.

A Game-Changing Solution for Internet Access
Pikangikum became the first community in Canada to be hooked up to Space X’s Starlink satellite internet this week.
I was active fighting for Starlink’s regulatory approval, as was my Conservative colleague MP James Cumming, and I am delighted that this groundbreaking project is moving forward. Starlink will be a game-changer for Pikangikum and will hopefully provide a model for ensuring internet access for all Canadians, regardless of where they live.
