THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – For the north of the region, there are snowfall warnings in effect, as a winter storm is expected to dump significant snowfall over parts of the north on Saturday.

For the first time this week, the cold spot in Ontario is not here in Western or Northern Ontario.

Thunder Bay Forecast

Friday starts with mainly clear skies and winds of up to 15 km/h forecast. The high plus 2, with a wind chill making it feel more like -16 this morning. Tonight, the weather service is calling for a few clouds and a low of -3c, the wind chill will make it feel like -3.

Increasing cloudiness is in the forecast for Saturday, with showers beginning in the afternoon. Winds south 30 km/h gusting to 50. The forecast high 6. In the evening, it will be cloudy with a 70 percent chance of rain showers or flurries. Low minus 3.

Sachigo Lake

There is a Snowfall Warning in effect for Sachigo Lake with snow forecast for Saturday. The Friday forecast is calling for cloudy skies with a 40 percent chance of flurries this morning. There will be a mix of sun and cloud this afternoon. Winds of up to 15 km/h. Friday’s high minus 3. Wind chill minus 13 this morning and minus 8 this afternoon.

Heading into tonight, expect partly cloudy skies. It will become cloudy near midnight with snow at times heavy accumulations of up to 5 cm overnight. Wind becoming southeast 20 km/h overnight. Low minus 9. Wind chill minus 8 this evening and minus 16 overnight.

Pickle Lake

The forecast for Pickle Lake for Friday, increasing cloudiness with a 30 percent chance of flurries late this morning and this afternoon. Winds up to 15 km/h. High zero. Wind chill minus 14 this morning.

For tonight expect mainly cloudy. Light snow beginning before morning. There is a risk of freezing drizzle before morning. Wind becoming south 30 km/h near midnight. Low minus 3. Wind chill near minus 9.

Kenora and Lake of the Woods Region

Mainly cloudy skies with winds up to 15 km/h and a daytime high of plus 3. The wind chill will make it feel more like minus 12 this morning.

For Friday night expect cloudy skies with a low plus 1.

For Halloween, October 31, expect cloudy skies with a 40 percent chance of rain showers. Snow flurries beginning late in the afternoon. Winds south 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming west 30 gusting to 50 near noon. High plus 5 with the temperature falling to zero in the afternoon.
