THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Lakehead’s Alumni Homecoming Weekend celebration will look a little bit different f0r 2020 with three days of virtual festivities happening from October 1-3.

The annual festivities usually involve a weekend of in-person activities for students, staff, alumni and friends between Lakehead Orillia and Lakehead Thunder Bay, however this year Lakehead will offer a virtual program directly to participants – wherever they are around the world.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Lakehead University recognizes the need to come together now more than ever to re-connect and celebrate, while looking forward to brighter days ahead. The staff at Alumni House, as well as the Alumni Association are excited to put on a number of informative and fun events, sure to appeal to everyone.

“We have built an exceptional tradition for our alumni and friends with Lakehead’s Homecoming Weekend,” said Alumni Association president Karen Boz.

“While it is important for us to continue to follow health guidelines so we may all remain safe, we felt very strongly that the show must go on. The opportunity to open up our Homecoming program to our fellow alumni living around the world in this new online format is something that we are truly excited about,” she said.

The three days will feature interactive games, a Speaker Series featuring notable alumni, a delicious ale and cheese tasting event, as well as our Signature Alumni Honours celebration, “Lakehead Celebrates.”

Lakehead’s Alumni Homecoming Weekend is free to attend – and everyone is welcome.  While activities will be available throughout the weekend, everyone is encouraged to pre-register as some events require an RSVP.
