THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police arrested a local man following a violent incident on the city’s south-side that happened Thursday night.
Then, during their investigation, police located and seized a firearm unrelated to the original assault and arrested a second male.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Bethune Street near McKenzie Street just after 10 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2020, following reports of an assault.
When police arrived they located a male victim who was being treated by Superior North EMS paramedics. Police learned the male had injuries sustained consistent with a stabbing during a recent assault.
The victim’s injuries were believed to be serious but non-life-threatening.
As a result of the continued investigation, officers at the scene identified a suspect and located him at about 10:30 pm in a nearby residence. He was arrested without further incident.
While making this arrest officers located a prohibited firearm inside the home. Police seized the firearm with ammunition and arrested a male without further incident.
Patrick Simon Raymond WOOD, 29, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Carrying Concealed Weapon
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Breach of Probation x 2
James Lawrence YOUNG, 52, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Without a Licence
- Careless Storage of a Firearm x 2
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Prohibited or Restricted Firearm With Ammunition
Both appeared in bail court on Thursday, September 18, 2020, and were remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
None of the charges have been proven in a court of law.
