Assault at Drive Thru Results in Charges for 51-Year-Old

THUNDER BAY – Police arrested and charged a local man with Assault with a Weapon following a Monday morning altercation at a fast-food drive-thru.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to the Tim Hortons drive-thru at 1120 John Street Road at about 10:50 am on Monday, August 24, 2020, following reports of an assault that had just occurred.

When police arrived they located a victim who had sustained injuries to his hand consistent with a stabbing. The victim attended the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further medical assessment and treatment of those injuries.

An investigation revealed the male suspect, who was driving a black pick-up truck, blocked the victim at the end of the drive-thru. The driver of the pick-up truck then exited his vehicle, began yelling at the victim, spat on the victim’s vehicle, and assaulted him.

Police were able to identify the vehicle involved and shortly after 12:30 pm located it and the suspected driver in the County Boulevard area.

The accused was arrested without further incident.

A 51-year-old Thunder Bay man is charged with Assault with a Weapon. He was released with a future court date of October 17, 2020.
