Police were notified of an incident of fraud on July 14, 2020. An investigation revealed the victim’s bank card was likely stolen from her purse between the hours of 9 and 10:15 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2020.
Later that morning the victim received a text message, and then later a phone call, from her bank’s anti-fraud department about a series of significant transactions that totaled more than $17,000.
Members of the TBPS’s Economic Crimes Unit became involved in this case. As a result of the ongoing investigation police were able to obtain surveillance footage that shows a suspect who may have been in possession of, and made transactions with, the victim’s bank card.
Images from the surveillance video are now being distributed in hopes the public can assist in identifying the suspect.
