BEAR Unit Investigating Robbery of Bay Street Business

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Police Service request public assistance to help in identifying a suspect involved in a recent robbery.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to Arella’s Quality Dollar and Import Store at 292 Bay Street on Saturday, August 15, 2020 just after 11:10 am following reports of a robbery that had just occurred.

When police arrived the suspect was no longer in the area. An investigation revealed a male had entered the store, approached the clerk, placed a backpack on the counter, and made demands for money.

The accused male fled the store on foot without cash or store merchandise.

The accused is described as a male standing about 5’9” tall. He wore a blue long-sleeve shirt, a hoodie with a grey upper portion and a darker blue lower portion, and a blue stripe in middle, a black mask with white tracing, black track-style pants with red stripes going vertically down the outside of the leg, and a black-and-red backpack.

Members of the TBPS’s Break and Enter And Robbery (BEAR) Unit are now investigating the incident. In an effort to identify the involved suspect, police are releasing obtained surveillance footage showing the male at the time of the robbery.
