A Brief Tornado is Possible – Environment Canada
Fort Frances – WEATHER – At 3:40 p.m. CDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, pea to dime size hail and heavy rain.
This line of severe thunderstorms is located from 15 kilometres southwest of Sioux Narrows to 35 kilometres west of Rainy River, moving east at 65 km/h.
Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:
- Fort Frances – Emo – Rainy River
- Sioux Narrows – Nestor Falls – Morson
Hazard: 100 km/h wind gusts. A brief tornado is also possible.
Locations impacted include: Rainy River, Nestor Falls, Caliper Lake Provincial Park and Harris Hill.
Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.
