SIOUX LOOKOUT – Tikinagan Child & Family Services was notified this past weekend that an employee based out of our Sioux Lookout office has tested positive for COVID-19.
Because Tikinagan continues to primarily have staff work remotely from home, the employee had minimal direct contact with other Tikinagan employees. The employee had no in-person contact with clients or community partners and did not travel to any of the First Nations we serve. Contact tracing is being carried out by the Northwestern Health Unit (NWHU). The employee is remaining at home during the self-isolation period and following all health protocols set out by the NWHU.
As a precautionary measure and as recommended by the NWHU, all Sioux Lookout offices have been closed to employees until August 10. All Tikinagan Child & Family Services offices remain closed to the public. This will not affect the delivery of services. We remain available 24/7 by phone at 1-800-465-3624.
This general notice is being shared because Tikinagan is committed to be consistently truthful, open, and direct in identifying issues, especially when it comes to the health and safety of our communities, families, and staff.
The NWHU and Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority are recommending that the normal public health measures are continued. These include:
- Social Distancing
- Hand Washing
- Wearing masks when social distancing is not possible
- Adherence to travel restrictions required by community leadership.
