THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police Service officers have arrested and charged a 49-year-old Thunder Bay man following an investigation into the accessing and sharing of child pornography.
Officers with the Cyber Crimes Unit began an investigation on May 27, 2020, after being made aware a local Internet user was suspected of having uploaded files containing child pornography. Investigators reviewed the files being shared and determined they were consistent with child pornography. The subsequent investigation into the user sharing these files identified a suspect.
On Thursday, July 29, as a result of their ongoing investigation, police executed a search warrant at a residential address in the 400 block of Brock Street East.
During the search, officers located and seized several devices. The 49-year-old suspect was then arrested and transported to the TBPS headquarters.
Norman Douglas DICKS, 49, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Possession of Child Pornography, Accessing Child Pornography, and Making Available Child Pornography.
He appeared in bail court on Thursday, July 30, 2020, and was released with a future appearance date of Tuesday, Oct. 13.
None of the charges have been proven in court.
