204SmileCo is one of the freshest faces in the world of dentistry and is proving to be a force to be reckoned with.

Today, Dr. Nate Jeal (@drnatejeal) and Dr. Bao-Tran Nguyen (@dr.baotran) are no strangers to building a successful business as they prepare to expand the 204 Smile Co brand to additional locations, but success didn’t come without their fair shares of challenges.

The dentist duo were “late-bloomers” after receiving their Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree from the University of Manitoba in 2011, and faced the learning curve of starting a new business one short year after being in the workforce.

Together, they persisted in the face of adversity and built a budding franchise while building a family together.

“We tried, failed, and tried again,” said the two.

Nguyen is no stranger to adversity, as she grew up in a refugee camp in Vietnam. She is now the president and co-founder of multiple profitable businesses and credits her success to her ability to block out negative influences and focus on her main goal.

“When you believe in what you do and come from a place of authenticity, it’s much easier to weather the pressures and short-term tough times,” says Nguyen.

Jeal made the transition to dentistry after refusing to accept systematic mediocrity and employment instability in other industries.

“The location of dentistry is at a fascinating junction between science, art, and technology,” he says.

He graduated with his DMD as class president and atop his class, alongside his future wife Bao-Tran Nguyen.

Together they also ventured into the world of marketing, opening their own marketing firm dedicated to accelerating the growth of other dentists’ and orthodontists’ practices. Dental Authority Marketing is their chance to share their success strategies with others.

Jeal has presented live to aspiring dental practitioners around North America and Australia.

Now they look to share their knowledge of the industry with the world — in their book being released in late 2020. The book is an in-depth look into the secrets and mindsets they cultivated in order to reach quick and respectable success. Look out for “Fast Growth Practice,” available soon.

Jeal and Nguyen have no plans of slowing down any time soon.

“Working at what you enjoy and are good at really does offer a lot of freedom, so why would I ever stop?” asks Nguyen.

Jeal agrees with his wife and business partner, as he prepares for a live video presentation to dentists from around the world.

“There’s no reason to stop working if you can focus on what you’re passionate about by eliminating everything you don’t like doing,” he says.
