Suspected Impaired Driver Faces Charges Following Kingsway Avenue Collision

Impaired Driving numbers are up in Thunder Bay. What should be done?

THUNDER BAY – Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service dealt with another suspected impaired driver early this morning. Police were dispatched to a parking lot in the 700 block of Kingsway Avenue following reports of a motor vehicle collision just after 4:30 am on Wednesday, June 10.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located a vehicle that appeared to have been travelling southbound on Kingsway Avenue when it struck a parked and unattended vehicle.

Police were able to locate the driver involved, who showed signs of impairment.

The G1-class driver was arrested and later transported to the Thunder Bay Police Service Headquarters for breath analysis. Breath samples were taken and confirmed the driver was impaired at the time of the collision.

A 20-year-old Thunder Bay woman faces charges of Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired by Alcohol.

She was released from custody with a future court date.
