THUNDER BAY – The ongoing investigation into the latest homicide in Thunder Bay which happened on May 30, 2020 at the Midtown in has generated another arrest.
Police have arrested a second accused, a 16-year-old youth from the Toronto area, in connection with the ongoing homicide investigation of Paul VIVIER.
TBPS was originally dispatched to the Midtown Inn located at 61 Cumberland Street North around 10:20 PM on Saturday, May 30 following reports of a disturbance that resulted in a seriously injured male.
When officers arrived at the Midtown Inn, they located a 29-year-old male victim.
Paramedics with the Superior North EMS transported Paul Winnifred VIVIER to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. It was at the TBRHSC that VIVIER was pronounced dead.
As a result of their ongoing investigation members of the TBPS’s Major Crimes Unit arrested and charged Denis Terry Bernard, 36, of Thunder Bay, on Sunday, May 31. He appeared in bail court on Monday, June 1 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date of Tuesday, June 9, 2020.
Further investigation by police has identified a second suspect.
On Wednesday, June 3, 2020, the TBPS arrested a 16-year-old male from Toronto and charged him with Second-Degree Murder, Failure to Comply with a Judicial Release, and Failure to Comply with a Sentence.
The youth is expected to appear in bail court today.
