Dryden OPP Seize $164k in Contraband Cigarettes

DRYDEN – Quieter roads and highways appear to be allowing the OPP to make more arrests and lay more charges. On Tuesday, OPP officers from the Dryden Detachment located and seized 41 cases of contraband cigarettes.

As a result of the traffic stop, officers located and seized 41 cases of unmarked cigarettes with an estimated value of $164,000.

As a result of this incident, Paige Kiernan, 22 years old of Saskatoon, SK, Michael Kiernan, 50 years old of Saskatoon, SK and Diamond Poorman, 27 years old of Thornhill, ON have been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code:

Trafficking in Contraband Tobacco, Contrary to Section 121.1

The details.. n May 26, 2020, at approximately 5:40 pm the Ontario Provincial (OPP) Dryden Detachment with the assistance of officers from the Kenora Detachment conducted a traffic stop on Highway 17, Docker Township (West of Vermillion Bay) for a highway traffic act violation.

All three accused were released on an Appearance Notice and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on August 10, 2020.
