The HUB Delays Planned Soft Opening

THUNDER BAY – BUSINESS – COVID-19 means staying safe. Lori Paras with The Hub in downtown Fort William is taking a different approach to re-opening the business incubator under the COVID-19 pandemic.

Paras contacted vendors today by email stating, “After speaking with the majority of vendors we have decided to postpone the soft opening of The Hub. With the new Covid-19 cases in the city and the 40 presumptive cases within the hospital, it was felt that waiting a little while longer would just be safer.
“I took several appointments last week to test the market and found that customers were not concerned about the 6 ft social distance measure, no-one was wearing masks and they did not display the need to be cautious.
“After 2 days and 5 customers I was concerned that although The Hub would put in the proper protocols, there would be customers that would just disregard the process in place at this time,” continues Paras.  “Les and I will need more time also to ensure that the protocols put into place will be adhered to willingly by the public, without causing bad feelings and tarnishing the bazaar’s good business reputation. And of course, keeping all of you safe!”
The Hub is taking an approach somewhat different than many local businesses that are opening as quickly as they can. Paras states the goal is safety.
Maybe the message is a simple one, the pandemic isn’t over yet, and if all of us don’t keep up the hard path we have been on, with social distancing, we could see all that hard work be for nothing.
