Winnipeg Police Homicide Likely Result of Domestic Violence

WINNIPEG – Winnipeg has recorded another homicide. Winnipeg Police report that on May 15, 2020, at approximately 11:40 am, emergency personnel responded to a multi-family residential building in the 300 block of Redwood Avenue for a report of a female that was injured.

Upon arrival, the injured female was found inside one of the suites and was transported to the hospital in critical condition where she was pronounced deceased. A male suspect was taken into custody.

The deceased victim was identified as Marie Morin, a 46-year-old female of Winnipeg.

Members of the Homicide Unit continued with the investigation.

It is believed that the victim had been socializing with the suspect at his residence when she was assaulted. The victim suffered a significant laceration, and the homicide is considered domestic in nature.

Brandon Carl Starnyski, a 45-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

– Second Degree Murder
– Fail to Comply Probation Order

He was detained in custody.
