Thunder Bay Police Respond to Potential Explosives on Catherine Street

THUNDER BAY – Residents in the Catherine Street area had a scare tonight. Thunder Bay Police Service officers learned of potential explosives being located at a residential address in the 700-block of Catherine Street just after 5 p.m. on Monday, May 11.

As a result, police contained an area and notified residents in the immediate area not to leave their homes for their own safety.

Members of the OPP were dispatched to assist.

The suspected explosives were removed from the scene without incident. Area residents are no longer required to stay in their homes as a result of this incident.

A police presence may remain in the area as an investigation continues.

No further information is available at this time.
